Prof. Dr. Sholpan Gaisina graduated from Nagoya University in Japan in 2011 with a degree "Dr. in Economics".
She is a fellow of such foundations as Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany), Fullbright Foundation (USA), Japanes Society for Promotion of Science, The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies, DAAD (Germany). She was a visiting scholar at Hochschule Neubrandenburg (Germany), Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (Germany), Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (Germany), University of Nebraska, Lincoln (USA), Institute of Developing Economies (Japan).
Prof. Gaisina was teaching at Averett University in Danville, Virginia, USA in 2013-2014 and at Stockholm School of Economics (Riga Branch) in 2010.
She worked as an international trainer, having a certificate from the International City/Country Management Association (ICMA), USA. She has conducted trainings on Leadership, Local Budget Process, Public Hearings and Financial Management.
She has published 2 books, 25 papers and 27 conference contributions to conferences.
Her research interests include such topics as financial institutions in rural areas, borrowing and saving behaviour of rural population, and financial literacy.
